If you run into any trouble and find you need help, you can click on Help or shoot an email to Grover Saunders at Enjoy the site.

Relay Upgraded Over Spring Break • Mar 12th, 2012

Holy Moley! Based solely on this front page, you'd assume we've done nothing in the past eighteen months. There's actually been a whole stack of JMUtube-related updates since the last time I posted though, mostly related to CRASS and Relay. Relay got updated to version 4 over Spring Break, which adds webcam support. You'll need to download the latest version of the recorder in order to take advantage of this feature (probably worth doing anyway if you've got some time). Just like always, you'll find the recorder downloads under the Relay tab once you log in to JMUtube. It may also be worth mentioning the speech-to-text features (they've been around for about a year, but we just failed to post about them here). They come in two flavors: 1) automatic, searchable transcriptions that won't be displayed, but can be searched to find a particular point in the presentation and 2) displayed captions that are automatically generated, but must be confirmed by a real-live human being before they're displayed. If you're interested in the latter, there's a little bit of setup work that needs to be done, so don't hesitate to get in touch.

JMUtube Back to Fighting Weight • Nov 16th, 2010

After giving it two aspirin and calling us in the morning, we are ready to give JMUtube a clean bill of health. It's actually been running smoothly for some time now since upgrading to the latest version of Flash Media Server, so hopefully you've forgotten there was an issue at all. But since the issues were so sporadic, we've been reluctant to give the official thumbs up until it proved itself worthy.

Happy streaming!

Streaming Services Down This Friday • October 27th, 2010

In order to implement the fix for the aforementioned problem with streaming video files, streaming will be entirely unavailable for a couple hours as of 1:00PM on Friday Oct 29th. This will not impact the availability of the website itself, or any files delivered via Progressive Download (which is the default delivery type in JMUtube). Once restored, all streaming services should be restored to consistent operation.

Streaming Videos Sporadically Unavailable • October 20th, 2010

From time to time, you may find that videos delivered from JMUtube via streaming are not available lately. We are aware of the issue, and have a resolution planned, but it will take a few days to implement. If you find that a video from JMUtube is not working, try back again later and you will likely find it working.

We do sincerely apologize for the irritation this must surely cause.

A New Year, A New JMUtube • January 8th, 2010

All has been quiet on the front page for most of the Fall '09 semester. But we were not, in fact, resting on our laurels (we don't even know exactly what laurels are, or how one would rest on them). While it may not look like it, JMUtube actually just went through its biggest upgrade yet, and now runs on the foundation of the MDID 3 framework.

What does this mean for you, the user? Well, not much at first. While there have been some new features since the last post here, JMUtube is largely unchanged by this transition at present. What it does is set the foundation for some truly advanced fuctionality, especially where security and interoperability are concened. In other words, your content will be better protected and you'll be able to get to it from more places.

Having said all that, if you've been away awhile, you might notice a few new features.

This semester also marks final phaseout of the old Faculty Streaming website. If you still have content hosted there, it will still be available from existing links until the end of the Spring 2010 semester, but the site itself has been removed along with all ability to manage or deploy content. If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to contact the CIT at 8-7061, 8-4836 or by email at

YAPANF! • July 21st, 2009

That's "Yet Another Post About New Features!" if you were wondering. We've added a ton of new stuff to JMUtube over the summer, so let's take a look at a few highlights

As always, we're interested in your feedback, so let us know if you have questions, comments, or suggestions for the future of JMUtube.

Tagging, Impersonation, and Org Accounts. Oh My! • April 21st, 2009

Okay, that title is a stretch, but we have indeed added three big new features to JMUTube this week.

We hope you find these new features useful. Please let us know if you have any trouble with them, and if there are other features you'd like to see in the future.
